Charlie Blacklock, past president of the Saw Player's Association, recently turned 90 and while unable to play his saws continues his musical interest by playing harmonica for his and his friends entertainment. He enjoyed being at the festival in Roaring Camp again last year where many of the players played on his saws.
The next Saw Player's Picnic and Music Festival at Roaring Camp near Santa Cruz, California, will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2007. See official web site for details. A highlight each year is the "Chorus of Saws", all saw players on stage at one time. Last year there were thirty-three saw players and several other supporting instruments. Also, many musicians arrive a day early and meet on the street in Santa Cruz to play in front of the statue of Tom Scribner.
